And another cool share today!...

And another cool share today! Read both our stories in her post below: #Repost @biscuitsandbanarsi (@get_repost) ・・・ I love looking at gallery walls and decided to attempt one....except I’ve realized I’m not as random as I thought I was. I like my symmetry and get bothered when things don’t quite match up. It doesn’t help that the theme for my gallery wall is a “Pakistani” one which means loads of colors and designs. But I’ve accepted this as a challenge and determined to make it work. I’ve been trying to find a changair (Pakistani wicker bread plates) to hang and couldn’t find one with the right colors but came across this cool lady in Maine who uses upcycled fabrics to make custom goods. I told @redgypsybohemian the colors I wanted and she designed this beautiful fabric tray, that surprisingly looks like it’s something made in Pakistan, am I right or what? On top of that, I love the story behind her projects: “I try to source materials from items that have been discarded, mainly clothing items, sheets, curtains or even second hand/hand me down fabric. So much fabric goes to the trash facilities as people clean out closets and discard old clothes. And it's perfectly good fabric! I am always looking for ways to reuse things that no one wants, and I hope I'm doing my tiny little part at reducing the amount of waste we create” All of her projects contain some or all upcycled material, which is why this tray means so much more to me. Really makes you think about all our waste and consumption. If we all played a tiny part like #redgypsybohemian than this world would become a much better place. “Children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer and eat and drink. But do not be excessive verily Allah does not love the wasteful” [Quran- Surah Al Araf, verse 31] #recycle #upcycle #reduce #reuse #pakistanidecor #ethicalshopping #ethicallysourced #recycledfashion #upcycledclothing #sustainable #sustainablestyle
